Key Issues:

  • Supreme Court ruling (2023): State Governors cannot indefinitely withhold assent, and must follow procedure for reconsideration.
 Article 200 of the Indian Constitution grants governors the authority to:

·        Assent: Approve bills, making them law.

·        Withhold Assent: Refuse bills, preventing them from becoming law.

·        Reserve for President: Seek the President’s consideration if constitutional doubts arise.

Arunachal, Assam told to ready elephant corridor plan.
